La Chapelle Rouge 2009 is a classic Rhône red, displaying notes of blackberry, black olive, violet, and pepper alongside subtle earthy undertones. With the added complexity of bottle age, the wine is beautifully balanced, combining mature fruit with freshness and a refined finish.

A muscular vintage, with a touch of game, soy, umami and campfire on the aromatics. Opens to show blackberry, blood orange, tapenade, pomegranate, toast. An excellent wine, in a richer, more opulent style than the floral-dominant 2007, both stunning expressions of Syrah. This is in its drinking window, and begging to be shared, but will go for decades. Caroline Frey owner and winemaker, Denis Dubourdieu consultant.
