This blend masterfully brings together Shiraz's rich dark fruit flavors and Viognier's floral aromatics. On the nose, you're greeted by blackberries and a touch of violet, followed by a palate that is both robust and silky, thanks to its well-rounded tannins.

The 2006 Shiraz-Viognier is noticeably lighter in color. It is more expressive aromatically because of the Viognier component but is less voluminous on the palate leading to a slightly compact finish. There is little here to justify the extravagant price tag. Hobbs of Barossa Ranges has vineyards contiguous with Chris Ringland’s Three Rivers Vineyard. Ringland is employed by the winery as a consultant. The 2006 releases fall considerably short of the standards set by the 2005s even though they are all outstanding wines.
