An incredibly rare 2 x magnum bottle case of SQN's 'Male/Female' 2013 production.

Sine Qua Non (SQN) make some of the rarest and most sough-after wines in the world. Each year, they produce a tiny batch of Rhône-inspired wines in California, coming with custom labels, a one-off name, and one heck of wine inside.
The 'Female' Grenache Female is intensely vibrant, perfumed notes of black raspberries, liquorice, violets, and herbs. The 'Male' Syrah Male is bigger, bolder, and more concentrated, with blackberry, herbs, and minerality throughout, yet is balanced by the elegance of finer tannins.

Showing similar to a previous bottle tasted in Colorado, the 2013 Grenache Female (78% Grenache, 19% Syrah and 3% Mourvedre) is more high toned and pretty than the 2014, with perfumed notes of black raspberries, licorice, herbes de Provence and violets. Similar on the palate to the 2014, yet perhaps with a touch more tannin, give this beauty a few years and drink it through 2033. // Like with the 2013 Grenache, I was thrilled to be able to taste the 2013 Syrah Male again (twist my arm), and it continues to impress. Giving up fabulous blackberry, bouquet garni, peppery herbs and minerality, this full-bodied, beautifully textured, concentrated and layered Syrah has ultra-fine tannin, impeccable balance and a great finish. It needs 2-4 years of cellaring and will see its 20th birthday in fine form.
